I have a usb bootable flash drive with the Windows disk on it as an iso file.

With everything stuck (no keyboard, unable to access bios) will the computer still boot from the usb drive?

If your Linux disc supports writing to NTFS partitions, then it should work. You may have to manually mount the partition. A Windows Recovery CD will also work; they are available for download if you do a Google search for them.

Is there any way to fix this without a Windows disk? I’m getting the same problem when I boot in Windows or Linux Mint. I have a Mint boot disk but that doesn’t seem to work..

it worked, but de command.exe keeps showing C:documents and setting >
so, i put ””C:Program FilesiTunesiTunes.exe” /setPrefInt hide-ping-dropdown 1” in start -> run and opened, and the ping button dissapeared

Yeah, I noticed that it doesn’t seem to be possible to completely eradicate the toolbar, but at least after doing the steps and closing the toolbar it doesn’t pop back up automatically anymore.

Mostly worked. I still had the PING sidebar, but I could just hide the whole sidebar. I appreciate the post – thank you!

My BBB complaint was closed as "Consumer rejects business' final offer". Their offer was "don't install the update and lose access to PSN permanently". Some offer!

Good news! Geohot figured out how to restore 'Other OS'. He hasn't released it yet, hopefully he's taking his time to make sure it's resistant to further tampering by Sony.

Thanks, I should have included those in my original post. I filed my complaints already prior to writing my blog entry.

I edited your comment to take out the spaces in the links so they can be clicked on directly.

Unfortunately, Sony has an 'F' rating with the BBB and ignores most complaints, so not much will come of them, but hopefully if the FTC gets enough complaints they'll take action on the issue.
